Khan’s Tutorial Helps 339 (and Counting!) SHSAT Students Gain Acceptance to NYC’s Esteemed Specialized High Schools

New York, NY - March 21, 2019 – This past Monday marked the release of the results of the Specialized High School Admissions Test (SHSAT), the sole determinant of admission into New York City’s prestigious Specialized High Schools. Stuyvesant High School, Bronx High School of Science, and Brooklyn Technical High School offer acceptances to a total of about 3,000 students per year out of 30,000 students who take the challenging exam. This year, due to Mayor DeBlasio’s expansion of the Discovery Program, there is a scarcity of Specialized High Schools seats and overall more competition due to higher cut off scores.

Khan’s Tutorial Holds Strategy Meeting for High School Achievement Program Quality Managers

Queens, NY – This past weekend High School Achievement Program Quality Managers from across Khan’s Tutorial’s 11 locations gathered at the brand new SAT & Regents Center in Jackson Heights for a strategy meeting. The meeting, led by program leader and Columbia graduate Ms. Tasneem Imam Khan was held to discuss new changes in Khan’s Tutorial’s SAT Program. The new program which started this month boasts a continuously updated and customized curriculum designed to boost student scores. Furthermore, students meet for 1-2 sessions per week for 80 hours over the course of the program to effectively master the exam. In the past two years, Khan’s Tutorial’s SAT Program has helped hundreds of students score above a 1300, with many surpassing 1400 and 1500.

KT Chairperson and UN Goodwill Ambassador, Mrs. Nayeema Khan to hold Mother’s Workshop in Jackson Heights

Queens NY, - Later this month, Mrs. Nayeema Khan, Chairperson of Khan’s Tutorial and recently appointed UN Goodwill Ambassador, will be hosting an educational workshop for mothers at Khan’s Tutorial’s brand new SAT & Regents Location in Jackson Heights. The event is in celebration of International Women’s Day and aims to empower families, particularly mothers of children grades 7-12, through education. The free workshop will feature special guests, a speaker’s panel, and will teach South Asian, new immigrant mothers about parenting.

The event will take place on March 30th, 2019 from 5:30pm to 7:00pm at 37-26 74th St 2nd Floor (across the street from Patel Brothers/Indian Taj Restaurant).

I personally remember the role that my parents Dr. Mansur Khan and Mrs. Nayeema Khan played in helping me get through my academics and my youth as a teenager. I really hope this free community workshop allows for greater dialogue between mothers who've gone through the teenage years to those that are experiencing it now. New York, NY – February 16, 2018, This weekend students and parents gathered at Khan’s Tutorial’s brand new SAT & Regents location Jackson Heights. The new expansion facility will house Khan’s High School Achievement Program students preparing for the SATs, SAT IIs,  ACTs, and Regents Examinations. In the past two years, Khan’s Tutorial’s High School Achievement Program has helped over 239 students score 1300+ on the SAT on their way to some of the top colleges and universities in the nation. As Khan’s Tutorial enters its third decade, it aims to increase student scores and educate for life by giving back to the community. Khan’s Tutorial is currently offering FOUR FREE SAT/Regents classes at the new Jackson Heights SAT & Regents Location for all KT SHSAT Alum. KT Celebrates Students’ Excellent Common Core Exam Scores with Perfect Score Weekend

A score of 4/4 means that these students met and excelled beyond the standards set for elementary and junior high school students. KT Hosts First Ever Charity Staff Basketball Tournament

Queens, NY -- November 4th, 2018, This past weekend, Khan’s Tutorial held its first ever Charity Basketball Tournament. Khan’s Tutorial branches from all locations came together to John Bowne High School to participate in a friendly competition for a great cause. Each team picked a charity to represent in the tournament and the winning team had all the proceeds of the night go to the charity of their choice. Khan’s Tutorial Brooklyn, playing for Islamic Relief USA, earned the winning title at the end of the night after tirelessly playing four matches. Islamic Relief USA is a non-profit charity operating in 40 countries, which helps millions annually by responding to emergencies, providing water to countries that lack resources to get it, and offering orphan scholarships.

Chairperson, Mrs. Nayeema Khan and CEO & President, Dr. Ivan Khan led the commemoration which included a small dua and celebrated the start of Khan's Tutorial starting its 25th year. NYS Spring 2018 Common Core Scores are Released

New York, NY - On Wednesday, September 26th, the Department of Education (DOE) announced  that parents can now access their child’s 2018 Common Core Exam scores. According to the New York State Education Department, 45.2% of all test takers in grades 3-8 scored at the proficient level (Levels 3 and 4) in ELA. In math, 44.5% of all test takers in grades 3-8 scored at the proficient level. Due to the State’s new two-session test design and performance standards, the 2018 Grades 3-8 ELA and math results cannot be compared to prior-year results. In previous years, students took their state exams in three sessions. The new baseline established this year will enable comparisons with student scores in 2019 and 2020.
